Dealing with Emotions

November 30, 2011

Download brochure

We routinely leave emotions out of conversations. Emotions are understood to get in the way of problem solving, to cloud the issue, and to bring personal politics into an otherwise rational workplace. But emotions are very important. If we leave them out, we also leave out our passions, hopes, values, fears, disappointments and joys. Emotions can also point to unconscious needs and desires.

Managing emotions in the workplace can be challenging. In this seminar, we will discuss where emotions come from, look at strategies for managing emotions in conversation and consider ways to diffuse anger in order to make conversation possible. We will also practice ways to navigate our own emotions and learn how to express emotions in ways that are constructive.

Dealing with Emotions is essential for managers, supervisors, teachers, mediators, customer service personnel, and anyone working with people.
